Backbone Issue Sync 4.0.0

June 2019

This release is a feature release which adds new mapping possibilities with the public Java API.

Public Java API

This version introduces a public Java API which enables you to add your own field mappings to Backbone. This can be useful in the following situations:

  • You implemented a custom field in your own app and want to synchronize this field with Backbone.
  • You want to synchronize third party custom fields Backbone does not support (yet).
  • You want to further customize the transformation logic between two fields.

Read more about our Use the Java API.

Dropping support for Jira 6.3/6.4

In order to enable a better maintainability of Backbone and have more time for new features, we decided to drop support for Jira 6.3 and 6.4. These Jira versions have reached their end of life in July 2016/March 2017. More details can be found in supported jira versions.

Dropping support for Java 7

Along with the Jira version drop, we also drop support for Java 7 because Jira 7 requires Java 8 as well.
