Scroll Viewport Cloud 2022-04-28

We are pleased to announce the release of Scroll Viewport 2022-04-28 which is a improvement and bug fix release.

In this release we continue to improve our integration with Variants for Scroll Documents which advances Scroll as a powerful and comprehensive documentation solution for Confluence Cloud.

We have also improved the design and user experience of the Help Center’s search component.

Highlights

Design improvements for the search bar

We have made several design improvements to the search bar of the Help Center theme - including its mobile view.

The search bar has now a more rounded border to ensure a better visual separation from surrounding components. The content source filter in the bar can now display longer content source names.

Before

After

In the mobile view, we have moved the search bar to the menu dialog ('Hamburger menu'). There are now no more duplicate search fields in a single view.

In the animation above, a comparison of the former state with duplicate search inputs and the improved state with a single search input.

The search bar related CSS variables are now also officially documented. If you decide to further customize the search bar using custom CSS code, we recommend keeping your customizations to the documented and officially supported components.

Variants for Scroll Documents: Improvements to the integration with Viewport

Scroll Viewport now respects the default variant set in the Scroll Documents variants list. When a visitor accesses your help center without speciying any variant in the URL, Scroll Viewport will automatically default to the content of the default variant.

We have also improved redirect handling, so that users trying to access specific versions through a URL like /version1 get directed to an existing variant of that version like /version1/variant1 , instead of a 404 page.
