Scroll Viewport Cloud 2021-08-04

We are pleased to announce the release of Scroll Viewport 2021-08-04 which is an improvement and bug fix release.

With this latest release, we offer you a new Scroll Viewport integration with the third-party commenting platform Hyvor Talk. You can now start a discussion with your users by embedding commenting functionality (and ratings) into your help center.

We have also improved our help desk integration with Freshdesk, and are now supporting their more functional help widget. Finally, with all newly generated or updated site we now also automatically provide a sitemap and robots.tx.

Embed Comments Into Your Help Center

Adding a comments section into your help center makes your brand appear reachable and shows you care.

When your users interact with your comment by leaving comments or reacting to article pages, you can then take that feedback onboard to improve your help content.

Scroll Viewport now integrates with Hyvor Talk, so you can embed commenting, rating and reaction functionality into your help center articles. The widget can be customized to tie in with your help center's branding.

A Sitemap and robots.txt File for Each Site

With this release, we provide a sitemap and robots.txt file for all newly generated and updated sites. While a sitemap is a XML file that lists the URLs for a site, a robots.txt tells search engines which URLs they should crawl on a site. In combination, they allow search engines to crawl the site more intelligently.

We automatically generate the files with the names /sitemap.xml and /robots.txt in your domain's top level directory (e.g. example.scrollhelp.site/).

Search engines will automatically look for these files in those location.

Please update your site to generate a first sitemap from the current state of your help center.

Please also note that you can’t currently modify the robots.txt file.

Support for a More Functional Freshdesk Help Widget

We now integrate with Freshdesk Help Widget. Previously, we only offered an integration with Freshdesk’s feedback widget. Freshdesk is in the process of phasing out this format and replacing it with the more functional help widget.

If you have already set up the integration with Freshdesk for your help center, the feedback widget will continue to work. However, we strongly recommend switching to the more functional help widget to offer your customers a better experience.
