Greyed Out Options for Adding and Editing Context Keys

This troubleshooting article provides step-by-step guidance on resolving the issue of greyed out options for adding and editing context keys in Confluence.

Symptoms

The Add new key, Edit and Delete options in the Manage Context Key screen are greyed out after migration from Scroll Versions to Scroll Documents.

Possible Causes

The greyed out options could be due to a space that has been migrated into a free Confluence system, resulting in edit restrictions for everyone. Consequently, the Context Key options are also disabled.

Before You Begin

Before proceeding with troubleshooting, it is recommended that users familiarize themselves with the Context Key feature. Additional information on this feature can be found in this article: Assign Context Keys

Solution

To regain the ability to add or edit Context Keys, you need to grant global access to the space. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to Space Settings.

  2. Locate “Space permissions” > select General.

  3. Click Grant permissions, this action will grant all users in your Confluence system access to your space.

If you wish to restrict certain parts of the space, upgrading to a paid Confluence plan is necessary. For help with this, we recommend reaching out to Atlassian support.
